Poking Seat

The initial idea of the project “poking Seat addresses a Simple matter which is pretty much associated with the definition of a seat: tactility. Every kind of a seat embraces the user by being in touch with him/her some extent.
This brought us to thinks of a seat as an interface, bringing the potentials of communicating with the user in order to address a very particular problem: Staying constantly in a single position on a seat for a while.

Design description

This constant inaction can be usually considered as a sign for a variety of unusual situations/conditions of the user. For instance, if the user stays inactive for a long time while driving a car, it can be a clue of falling sleep. Or, if a user stays inactive for a long time in his workplace, maybe it is time to change the posture/position to secure his health.
The project poking seat explores the possibilities of a responsive inflatable soft robotic / origami system embedded into a seat, which can respond to the users inactions. We mark it “from inaction to interaction”.
